About the Artist

Louie "Hippieone" Solano is an accomplished visual artist based in San Bernardino County, with more than 24 years of experience spanning illustration, painting, murals, and design. He's an Inland Empire native through and through — not flown in from somewhere else, but grown right here.

Renowned for his distinctive style, Solano masterfully blends acrylics and spray paint to create compelling works that captivate and inspire. His work reflects a fusion of personal perspective, life experiences, and imaginative vision.

Beyond the studio, Solano has hosted and participated in numerous exhibitions across Southern California — from Riverside's Gopa Gallery and Pain Sugar Gallery to the San Bernardino County Museum, the Latino Art Museum in Pomona, and even Untitled Gallery right here in Ontario. He's painted live at Meeting of Styles LA, Paint It Back Mural Festival in Iowa, Battle 4 the City in Chicago, and Hispanic Heritage exhibitions throughout Southern California.

But what sets Hippieone apart is his commitment to the next generation. He partners with schools and community programs throughout the region, mentoring young artists and proving that a career in art is possible without ever leaving home.

About the Mural

Hippieone's mural transforms the wall into a portal to another world — an enchanted forest scene with massive twisted trees framing a flowing turquoise stream that winds through moss-covered roots toward a misty waterfall in the distance.

Hummingbirds hover mid-flutter near blooming pink flowers, caught in that impossible freeze-frame moment between wingbeats. The palette moves from deep forest shadows through emerald canopy to that ethereal blue water, equal parts fairy tale and fever dream.

In a festival full of bold graphics and urban energy, this mural offers something different: an invitation to step through the wall and disappear into imagination. It's a reminder that Downtown Ontario has room for every kind of dream.

About the Sponsor: Whispering Lakes Golf Course

Whispering Lakes Golf Course has been an Ontario institution for over 60 years — and its history is more colorful than most residents realize.

The City of Ontario first purchased the property in 1914. By 1959, the city had assembled 242 acres, and in 1960, a contract with Ontario Golf Inc. transformed it into Whispering Lakes Ontario Public Course. The course made national news immediately: it hosted the Ontario Open on the PGA Tour in both 1961 and 1962.

But the real magic happened at the Royal Tahitian clubhouse, which became a destination for world-class entertainment. The Garden Concert series brought legends to Ontario: Duke Ellington, Dorothy Dandridge, and George Shearing in the early years; by 1967, The Four Tops, James Brown, Bobby Darin, The Platters, and Ray Charles had all performed there.

Today, after a $1 million renovation that brought a new clubhouse, updated golf carts, renovated landscaping, and new equipment, Whispering Lakes continues to serve as an accessible public amenity — an 18-hole, par-72 course stretching 6,624 yards with generous tree-lined fairways. And in a nod to its entertainment legacy, the course has just added The Flying Goose — a live music venue bringing performances back to Whispering Lakes for a new generation.
