"Bloom Where You Are Planted"
Steffi Lynn Tsai was born in Austin, Texas, and spent her childhood in Tao Yuan, Taiwan, with extended family who shaped her cultural heritage. She earned her BFA in Illustration from Pratt University in 2016 and is now based in Brooklyn, New York.
Her path to muralism began unexpectedly: "I really realized I wanted to be a designer/artist when I started making custom Myspace layouts for fun." Her clients now include National Geographic, Volkswagen, Dunkin' Donuts, Twitch, DoorDash, Champion, and Walmart.
Her "Have a Nice Day" brand creates products that spark joy — a reminder that even on tough days, tomorrow is coming. Every year she donates one mural to a small business or nonprofit.
"I often have really low lows, which is a huge reason I create work that uplifts others. It's for others, but first it's meant to encourage myself."
Against a deep charcoal background, the words "Bloom Where You Are Planted" appear in playful typography — flowing script for "Bloom" and "Planted," bold block letters for "WHERE YOU ARE." A golden sun radiates warmth from the top. Tropical leaves in teals and greens frame the composition, with white hibiscus flowers and pink-red tropical blooms adding color.
The message is simple and profound: stop waiting for perfect conditions. Stop wishing you were somewhere else. Take root where you are and grow.
For the mural's sponsor, Holt x Palm, this isn't just a saying — it's their business philosophy: "We might have rather been in a more popular spot or street, but instead of wishing we were somewhere else, we decided to make where we are an amazing spot others also want to be. We are manifesting our own destiny and destination."
The mural is that philosophy made visible — Downtown Ontario's rallying cry painted on its walls.
Holt x Palm is a home decor and lifestyle retail experience located at 115 South Palm Avenue, right in the heart of Downtown Ontario's Arts District. Founded by Mia Sophia Melle, the shop occupies a century-old historic building that once served as an auto assembly plant — now completely renovated and transformed into an upscale, highly curated retail space and art gallery.
Holt x Palm's commitment to the Arts District extends far beyond retail. As producer of O-Town Walls Muralfest, host of monthly Art Expos every third Saturday, publisher of The Drop quarterly magazine, and operator of Untitled Gallery, Holt x Palm has become the heartbeat of Downtown Ontario's creative renaissance.
Through real estate investment, community programming, and initiatives like this mural festival, Holt x Palm continues to prove that when you invest in your neighborhood, the neighborhood invests back.
