About the Artist
Rotterdam artist Tymon de Laat creates murals and paintings shaped by travel, photography and an enduring interest in Latin American culture. Many of his portraits begin with people he has photographed while traveling, turning individual encounters into large public works.
His style combines expressive faces with flowing linework, vivid color and patterned forms. Rather than treating portraiture as straightforward representation, de Laat uses color and graphic rhythm to carry memories of place, architecture, clothing and culture into the finished image.
